An archaeological assessment was conducted at the proposed site of the new Midway Post Office on November 17, 1979. The 0.61 acre site is situated in a cleared field at the junction of New Georgia Highway 82 and an unnamed paved street, 0.7 miles east of U.S. Highway 17 (Figure 1, Figure 2). Mr. William J. Butler, present owner of the property, accompanied the author to the site and pointed out property boundaries during the assessment.
