Abstract

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed I-85/SR 316 interchange improvements and SR 316 Auxiliary Lanes on July 11 and 12, 1995. The project corridor is approximately 4 miles in length with a maximum right-of-way of 250 feet. The corridor begins at the northside ramps of the Pleasant Hill interchange and extends 2.2 miles to include the interchange with SR 316. The corridor continues east on SR 316 to the Atkinson Road interchange. A pedestrian survey designed to identify archaeological sites was conducted. No sites were discovered by the survey and no further archaeological study is recommended.
