Abstract

Under a continuing services contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, Panamerican Consultants, Inc. (PCI) conducted an intensive archaeological survey of an 2,726-acre (1103.6-ha) tracts of wooded uplands within Ft. Benning, Chattahoochee County, Georgia. These tracts, refered to by Fort Benning Range Control as Compartments A-12, CC-1, and Q-7, is located in the Sand Hills ecotone region of the Chattahoochee River drainage basin. A total of 70 archaeological sites and isolated finds were documented (9CE1004-1073). Six of these sites are recommended as potentially eligible; the remaining 64 are recommended as ineligible.
