On November 25, 1997 New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed bridge replacement north of Leguin Mill Road crossing Tussahaw Creek, Henry County, Georgia. The study corridor consisted of a 76.25m (250 ft.) approach in each direction of the proposed bridge crossing and a 36.6m (120 ft.) wide right-of-way. This report provides a prehistoric and historic background for the area and completely chronicles the results of the archaeological survey. A pedestrian survey of the corridor utilized 30.5 m (100 ft.) shovel test intervals along four transects as well as visual inspection of the exposed ground surface. No new or previously recorded archaeological sites were located within the study corridor, therefore no further archaeological study is recommended.
