Abstract

This report presents the results of an archeological survey that was conducted at the existing, two-lane bridge on Pine Grove Road where it crosses Willeo Creek at the Cobb-Fulton County line, in anticipation of the construction of a new bridge. The new bridge will be offset to the north by about 7 m and there will be some minor realignment of the road to the north for about 110 m east and west of the bridge. The goal of the survey was to locate, describe and evaluate the significance of any archeological sites in the proposed project's area of potential effect. The survey included a background and literature review, field inspection on July 15, 1997 to determine if archeological resources were present, and preparation of this report. No archeological sites were found. Construction will not affect any archeological sites, and thus, in regard to cultural resources, the project should be allowed to proceed with no further work.
