Abstract

The Gwinnett County Department of Public Utilities Planning and Engineering Division contracted with Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS) to conduct a reconnaissance-level archeological survey of a proposed sewer line right-of-way in southern Gwinnett County, in compliance with State and Federal laws governing the protection of cultural resources. The goals of the survey were to identify and locate potentially significant archeological sites that might be affected by the construction of the sewer line. The survey, which took place on April 4, 1995, involved limited field inspection and examination of documentary sources. Subsurface testing was limited to landforms that, upon visual inspection, were most likely to produce evidence of past utilization, either prehistoric or historic.
