The Gwinnett County Department of Public Utilities Planning and Engineering Division contracted with Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. (SAS) to conduct a reconnaissance-level, archeological survey of a proposed sewer line right-of-way in northern Gwinnett County, in compliance with State and Federal laws governing the protection of cultural resources. The goal of the survey was to identify and locate potentially significant archeological sites that might be affected by the construction of the sewer line. The survey, which took place April 13, 1995, involved limited field inspection by two field personnel (report author and a field technician) and examination of documentary sources. Subsurface testing was limited to landforms that, upon visual inspection, were most likely to produce evidence of past utilization, either historic or prehistoric. The sewer line corridor is to be 40 ft (12 m) wide.
