Abstract

An intensive cultural resources survey of two alternative locations of a new water treatment plant site and 3.8 miles of water lines and access roads located 15 archeological sites. Four of the sites, 9JO6, 9JOI98, 913170, and 9BI71 are either eligible or potentially eligible to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). If constructed as planned, water lines and access roads may adversely affect these sites. Either the plans should be changed to avoid these resources, or archeological testing and data recovery may be necessary to mitigate the loss of scientific information. The remaining 11 archeological sites are recommended as ineligible to the NRHP due to poor integrity or low research potential, and no further consideration or protection of these sites should be necessary.
