Abstract

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed Northwest Parkway, Bibb County, Georgia on August 4, 1998. The survey of the approximately 2.1 mile corridor consisted of a combination of new alignment and improvement of the existing alignment. No previously recorded archaeological sites are recorded within the confines of the project corridor and no new archaeological sites were discovered during the course of the survey. A collection of tombstones was found, however, these appear to represent secondary disposal. Further research is recommended to record the names represented on the tombstones, try and associate these with a known cemetery, and verify that they were not removed from a cemetery near the project corridor.
