Abstract

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of sixteen proposed intersection improvements in Forsyth County, Georgia from October 11 - 13, 2000. The sixteen intersections include: 1) State Route 9 at Majors Road and Shiloh Road; 2) State Route 9 at Castleberry Road; 3) State Route 9 at Mullinax Road and State Route 371; 4) State Route 9 at Hamby Road; 5) State Route 20 at Tribble Road and State Route 371; 6) State Route 369 at Bramblett Road; 7) State Route 9 at A. C. Smith Road; 8) State Route 9 at Spot Road; 9) State Route 369 at Hendrix Road; 10) State Route 369 at Holtzclaw Road; 11) State Route 369 at Shadygrove Road; 12) State Route 369 at Jot'Em Down Road and Bethel Road; 13) State Route 369 at Waldrep Road; 14) State Route 306 at Waldrep Road; 15) State Route 306 at State Route 53; and 16) State Route 306 at Parks Road and Shadburn Road. The parameters for the archaeological survey were 500 feet of approach for each road within the intersections and 50 feet on each side of the current centerline on the road. No archaeological sites were found between the sixteen areas of potential impact, therefore no further archaeological study of these areas is recommended.
