Abstract

The purpose of this project is to expand the NaviGAtor system to provide closed circuit television (CCTV) coverage of the problem areas in and around the City of Augusta. This, in turn, will enable the staff in Augusta, and eventually at the planned Augusta Transportation Control Center, to observe traffic conditions and provide travelers with information via changeable message signs (CMS), which will be located at strategic points in the area. The CCTV cameras will be mounted on concrete poles fifty feet above the pavement. The CMSs will be strategically installed to inform travelers on 1-20 and 1-520 of traffic problems in and around Augusta.
