Abstract

A Phase I archaeological study of the proposed improvements to SR 257 was conducted November 30, 2000. Approximately three miles of SR 257 between Interstate 16 and the City of Dublin are to be widened. A pedestrian survey, combining shovel testing and surface survey, was conducted in an effort to locate any archaeological sites within the study corridor. A single chert flake was found on the surface of a cleared construction site. No prehistoric or historic sites were found and no further archaeological study of the corridor is recommended.
