Abstract

A Phase I cultural resources survey of the proposed 52.6-hectare (130-acre) Kennesaw Tract in Cobb County, Georgia was conducted to locate and identify cultural resources within the project area, and to assess the significance of each resource. The project area is located on the west side of US Highway 4l about 1.6 kilometers (one mile) south of Kennesaw. A total of 9 archeological sites were recorded. The components represented at these sites include unknown prehistoric, indeterminate Woodland/Mississippian, Civil War, 19th/20th century, and mid-20th century. All 9 sites are recommended ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
