Abstract

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of the proposed Newnan Bypass in Coweta County from July 10 - July 18, 2000. The project area consists of approximately 1.5 miles of new road alignment roughly paralleling Interstate 85 as well as the surrounding limited right-of-way, in Coweta County. A pedestrian survey consisting of surface exposure inspection and shovel testing was conducted along the corridor. One new archaeological site was found by the survey. However, this site is not considered eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. Therefore, no further archaeological study is recommended.
