Abstract

R.S. Webb & Associates conducted an archeological resources survey of the proposed State Route 92 Realignment Corridor and associated detention pond areas in January 2003 and April 2004. The survey's goal was locate and identify archeological resources within the project corridor, and to assess resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places criteria [36 CFR Part 60.4]. The study area encompasses approximately 4.0 kilometers (2.5 miles) of realignment corridor, 0.8 kilometers (0.5 mile) of intersections, and 4.1 hectares (10.1 acres) of auxiliary areas, all located in the City of Douglasville, Douglas County, Georgia. Two archeological resources were identified during the field survey: one Early-Middle 20th century artifact scatter with a sparse prehistoric lithic component, and one Early-Middle 20th century artifact scatter associated with a standing house and outbuildings. These resources are recommended ineligible for the National Register of Historic Places, and no further archeological work is warranted.
