Abstract

Under a continuing services contract with the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, Panamerican Consultants, Inc. (PCI) conducted an intensive archaeological survey of 493 acres within selected areas of land management Training Area M4 (TA-M4), Fort Benning, Georgia. This work was undertaken in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1996. A total of 18 archaeological loci (11 sites and seven isolated finds) were identified during the project. Of the 11 sites recorded, 9CE 19, 9ME48, 9ME 1208, and 9ME 1213 are listed as indeterminate for inclusion in the NRHP. The remaining 14 cultural loci are recommended as ineligible for inclusion in the NRHP and require no further archaeological attention.
