The proposed project would replace the collapsed bridge with a new bridge structure, which would be constructed approximately 200 feet south of the former bridge location. The bridge would be a three-span concrete structure with Type I beams and 63-inch bulb tee beams. The proposed bridge would span approximately 200 feet and have a width of approximately 32 feet. The proposed roadway would consist of a two-lane rural section with 12-foot travel lanes and 5-foot unpaved outside shoulders. Proposed right-of-way would vary from 80 to 165 feet. The project length is 2,112 feet (0.4 mile). One previously recorded site, 9M0548, was identified and recorded in the project area (Patton 2003). The site is described as a Historic and Prehistoric (Early Archaic through Middle Woodland) artifact scatter of unknown NRHP eligibility. The relationship of the newly-surveyed APE to the site is shown in Figure 5. One additional site, 9M0528, was recorded east of the project area (Braley 2000). The site is described as a late 19th to early 20th century cotton gin of unknown NRHP eligibility. No additional archaeological sites were identified in the project area during the current survey.
