Intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Southern Research for Fort Benning Military Reservation during 1996 and 1997 in two land management compartments, A-05 and A-07, which are located near the main cantonment in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. This work was done in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966. Twenty-five archaeological loci were identified. Six sites (4 in Compartment A-05 and 2 in Compartment A-07) were identified that may be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Protective measures are recommended for these sites. The other resources identified on these compartments are deemed ineligible for inclusion in the NRHP and will require no further management.
