A Cultural Resources Survey of Compartment K-05 Fort Benning Military Reservation Muscogee County, Georgia

Abstract

Intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Southern Research in 1997 in land management compartment K-05, which is located in Muscogee County, Georgia. This work was done for the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966. Sixty-three archaeological loci were identified (46 sites and 17 isolates). Nineteen sites were identified that may be eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Protective measures are recommended for these 19 sites.
