Intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Southern Research in 1996 and 1997 on 877 acres (355 ha) in land management compartment D-12, which is located in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. This work was done for the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966. A total of 43 archaeological loci (31 sites and 12 isolated finds) was identified and four sites were identified that may be eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Protective measures are recommended for these sites.
