Intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Southern Research in 1998 in land management compartment BB-03, which is located in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. This work was done for the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966. The study area is comprised of 548 acres (222 ha), which includes 106 acres of previously surveyed land. A total of 442 acres (179 ha) was examined in the present study. A total of 23 archaeological loci (14 sites and 9 isolated finds) was identified in Compartment BB-03. One site in this compartment was considered potentially eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Protective measures are recommended for this site.
