Intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Southern Research in 1998 in land management compartment B-01, which is located in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. This work was done for the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966. A total of 371 acres (150 ha) was examined. No previous archaeological research was conducted in this compartment. A total of 12 archaeological loci (8 sites and 4 isolated finds) was identified in Compartment B-01. One site in this compartment was considered potentially eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Protective measures are recommended for this site.
