Abstract

Intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Southern Research in 1998 and 1999 on land management Compartment 0-14, which is located in Muscogee County, Georgia. This work was done for the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NH PA) of 1966. Thirty six archaeological loci were identified (21 sites and 15 isolated finds). Three aboriginal sites were identified that are potentially eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Four previously recorded sites are located in this compartment and one of these was deemed potentially eligible for the NRHP, but it was not revisited by the present survey (Roemer et al. 1994b). Protective measures are recommended for these potentially eligible sites.
