Intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Southern Research in 1998 and 1999 in land management Compartment B-02, which is located in Chattahoochee County, Georgia. This work was done for the U.S. Army Infantry Center, Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Fort Benning Military Reservation, in compliance with Section 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966. Compartment B-02 contains 1,042 acres (422 ha), all of which was examined in the present study. A total of 29 archaeological loci (20 sites and 9 isolated finds) was identified. No previous archaeological study had been conducted in this compartment. Ten sites in this compartment may be eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). Protective measures are recommended for these potentially eligible sites.
