Abstract

This is a GDOT report short form for negative findings for a Phase I Archaeological Survey of I-75 Auxiliary Lane Project Area in Henry County, Georgia. The proposed project would construct an auxiliary lane along the Interstate 75 (I-75) southbound lanes. The project would begin at the exit ramp to Eagles Landing Parkway and end at the entrance ramp of the Interstate 675 (I-675). At the ending limits of the project, the southbound lanes of I-75 consist of three through lanes with two additional lanes converging with them from I-675. These five lanes taper back to three lanes within 4,600 ft from where the two interstates converge. I-75 southbound remains as three lanes to the project's beginning point. This project would add an auxiliary lane from where the southbound traffic tapers from four lanes to three lanes and travels to the next interchange at Eagles Landing Parkway. The proposed alignment would be deflected through the Red Oak Road overpass due to the limited outside horizontal clearance at that location. The I-75 bridge over Flippen Road would be widened to accommodate the additional lane. All work would take place within the existing right-of-way. Three I-75 southbound lanes would be open during construction. The proposed project length would be approximately 1.9 miles.
