Abstract

A cultural resource reconnaissance was conducted on a 16 ha in Long County, Georgia. The project area is situated on the interface, between pine flatwoods and-the Altamaha River swamp. Intensive surface searching and systematic subsurface testing of the project area disclosed two small aboriginal sites. Both are considered insignificant because further subsurface testing failed to produce additional cultural material. The two-thirds of that is swamp was not tested because previous research has demonstrated a very low incidence of cultural materials in swampy areas.
