Abstract

This is a GDOT report short form for negative findings for a Phase I Archaeological Survey of the Sidewalk Enhancements to the Sandtown Community, Fulton County, Georgia. This project proposes to construct 8-foot sidewalks throughout the Sandtown Community. The proposed project length would be approximately 2 miles along Boat Rock Road, 0.5 mile along New Hope Road, and 1.9 miles along Campbellton Road. All work is anticipated to be undertaken within existing right-of-way, which varies throughout the project corridor. The project area along Campbellton Road will require isolated areas of new rightof-way that will not extend more than 50 feet beyond the existing right-of-way. The entire project area was surveyed through pedestrian visual inspection. The project was documented in field notes and in digital photographs. As the majority of the project area was contained within the existing right-of-way, shovel tests were excavated on a judgmental basis when the APE extended outside the existing right-of-way. Two shovel tests were excavated on the north side of Campbellton Road east of Wallace Road; both tests were negative. No shovel tests were excavated along Boat Rock and New Hope Roads.
