Abstract

The proposed project would construct a 12-foot wide multi-use trail generally along the floodplain of Big Creek in Forsyth County, Georgia. The trail would be constructed primarily of concrete, with wooden boardwalk sections interspersed along the alignment to lessen impacts to wetlands. The trail would begin at McFarland Road and continue north to its terminus at a trail parking lot at Bethelview Road. The trail would cross Union Hill Road, Atlanta Road, and Majors Road with at-grade crossings. Crosswalk striping and pedestrian signals would be installed at these crossings. The trail would pass under SR 400. The trail would cross Big Creek at seven locations with clear spanning concrete pre-caste bridges. The total project length would be approximately 6.9 miles.
