Abstract

Archaeological Survey for the Stockbridge Tunnel Trail Project. The project would plan, design, and construct a linear trail connecting Clark Park and Gardner Park via a tunnel under the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The project would begin at the existing trail in Clark Park, continue northeast for approximately 250 feet under the railroad for approximately 50 feet, and continue approximately 300 feet to terminate at the existing trail in Gardner Park. All property is city owned except for the railroad which is owned by Norfolk and Southern. The area of potential effect is 250 feet linear tract within Clark Park, 300 feet linear tract within Gardner Park and 50 feet underground tunnel beneath Norfolk Southern Railroad. There were no sites recorded within a 1-km radius of the project area.
