Abstract

On April 28, 1981, Cultural Resource Services, Inc. conducted a 100 percent coverage archeological - resource pedestrian survey of proposed sewerage and water system improvements in Tallapoosa, Haralson County, Georgia. A review of the site files at the University of Georgia in Athens and a literature search conducted at the Haralson County Library in Tallapoosa revealed that no prehistoric or historic resources have been previously recorded within the impact zone. Surface survey and subsurface shovel testing revealed two sites: one eroded ridge top surface scatter (401-1-1) and a light subsurface floodplain scatter (401-1-2). Three isolated finds were also recovered. Based on our findings, CRS recommends full cultural clearance for the proposed sewerage and water system improvements in Tallapoosa, Georgia.
