Original: The proposed project would reconstruct the existing interchange on Interstate 75 (I-75) and County Road (CR) 418/Omega-Eldorado Road (Exit 55) in Tift County. The proposed project is part of the GDOT's overall objective to increase the number of travel lanes on I-75 from four lanes to a minimum of six lanes throughout the state. The reconstruction would include replacing the existing CR 418/Omega-Eldorado Road bridge at this interchange with a new bridge: relocating the I-75 exit and entrance ramps at this interchange; and improving Omega-Eldorado Road from U.S. 41 west approximately 2,600 feet. The existing CR 418 Omega/ Eldorado Road bridge is approximately 216 feet long with two travel lanes. The new bridge at this interchange would be an approximately 300-foot, three-lane bridge to accommodate one travel lane in each direction and a center dual left-turn lane for the I-75 entrance ramps. The new bridge would correct sight distance deficiencies and allow for the future widening of I-75. The exit and entrance ramps would be relocated to achieve 1,000 feet of separation between ramp termini to allow for improved sight distance over the bridge and at the ramp intersections. Additional right-of-way would be required to implement this project. Existing right-of-way along Omega-Eldorado Road varies from approximately 80 feet to 160 feet. The proposed right-of-way would vary from approximately 100 feet to 183 feet. Please see attached sheet for the revised project description. The APE for the project includes everything within the proposed construction project length and within the maximum extent of the existing and required right-of-way as described above.
