Abstract

No archaeological sites or isolated finds were recorded in the project area during the current undertaking or during the first addendum to the original project. During the initial survey, two archaeological sites, 9CO653 and 9CO654, were identified and recorded (Braley 2003:15). Both sites were located in the APE adjacent to Lewis Road and south of the City of Powder Springs. Site 9CO653 is a small lithic scatter, and 9CO654 is a mid-20th century house site with an associated artifact scatter; both sites were recommended as ineligible for the NHRP (Braley 2003:16-18). Three archaeological sites have been recorded within a one km radius of the project area. Site 9CO482 is a prehistoric lithic and pottery scatter located roughly 250 m east of Lewis Road, on the east side of Powder Springs Creek, in a pipeline easement (Braley 2003:10). Sites 9CO304 and 9CO305, dating to the Early and Middle Woodland periods, were located during a sewer line survey along Powder Springs Creek, which terminated west of the city park (Gresham and Rogers 1992).
