Abstract

CSSTP-0007-00(671) would consist of the upgrade of existing signal equipment and the installation of pedestrian accommodations that may include ADA compliant ramps, crosswalks, and pedestrian signal heads at 9 previously signalized intersections (see attached location map and a list of intcrsections below). All proposed improvements would take place within existing right-of-way. The intersections are as follows: 1. Hospital Drive at Prestley Mill Road, 2. Campbellton Street at Elizabeth Street, 3. Douglas Bloulevard at Mall Entrance East, 4. Douglas Boulevard at Mall Entrance West, 5. Douglas Boulevard at Lowes, 6. Douglas Boulevard at State Route 5, 7. Douglas Boulevard at Home Depot, 8. Douglas Boulevard at Bright Star Road, 9. Campbellton Street at Church Street. An archaeological survey (Level II) was conducted in accordance with "GDOT/FHWA Cultural Resource Survey Guidelines" developed by the GDOT Staff Archaeologists in consultation with DNR Historic Preservation Division Staff and concurred in by the Federal Highway Administration and State Historic Preservation Officer. These guidelines provide general survey boundaries and methodological approaches to archaeological surveys based on the type/scope of work of proposed highway projects and are followed during the initial identification of archaeological resources.
