Abstract

This report summarizes the results of an archaeological survey of a proposed paper mill site near East Dublin, Laurens County,.Georgia. The proposed mill is located on a 987 acre tract of land between Georgia Highway 199 and the Oconee River. The archaeological investigations were sponsored by Media General Inc. of Saddle Brook, New Jersey. The field survey was conducted by University of Georgia archaeologist Gary Funkhauser, Rick Miller and Paul Efland. Field work started on August 9, 1976 and was completed on August 19, 1976. The field survey required a total of 28 man/days to complete and an additional 30 man/days were allotted to laboratory analysis, collection registration and report preparation. The final report was prepared by Gary Funkhauser. The work was accomplished under the direct supervision of Paul R. Fish. Dr. Paul R. Fish and Dr. David J. Hally acted as Co-Principal Investigators for the project.
