Abstract

A total of 102 prehistoric and historic archaeological sites were identified during this survey and 81 of these occurred within areas benefited by the proposed Soil Conservation Service channels. Only four of the identified sites appear to be in direct danger from construction. Secondary impacts, however, will undoubtedly affect additional sites. Evaluations of significance and recommendations for the mitigation of adverse impacts are provided in this report. Recommendations include avoidance, additional survey at the time of construction, and excavation prior to implementation of the channel project.
