Abstract

GDOT Archaeological Report Short Form for Negative Findings: Addendum to the Phase I Archaeological Survey of Five Sidewalk Expansion Locations, DeKalb County, Georgia. County(ies): DeKalb; USGS Quadrangle(s): Chamble and Southeast Atlanta Project Description: The original project included five sidewalk improvement areas: along Briarcliff Road, from N. Druid Hills to Henderson Mill roads (5.45 miles); along South Hairston Road, from Wesley Chapel to Rockbridge roads (5.3 miles); along Johnson Ferry Road, from the Dekalb County line to Ashford-Dunwoody Road (1.4 miles); along Rainbow Drive, from Candler Road to Columbia Drive (1.25 miles); and along Rays Road, from Memorial Drive to E. Ponce de Leon Avenue (1.36 miles). Since the submittal of the original archaeological survey report three of the sidewalk improvement areas have been removed from the project description. The Johnson Ferry and Rainbow Drive project areas have been retained and revised. Please see the attached for the revised description of the these areas. Area of Potential Effect: The APE for the project includes everything within the proposed construction project length and within the maximum extent of the existing and proposed right-of-way as described above.
