Abstract

GDOT Archaeological Report Short Form for Negative Findings: Report Title Addendum to Phase I Archaeological Survey of Sumter County Signal Upgrade Project Areas. Prime Consultant: QK4; County(ies): Sumter; USGS Quadrangle(s): Americus Project Description: Original: The proposed project would consist of intersection improvements at two locations in Sumter County. Georgia. The proposed project would improve the overall efficiency and safety of traffic flow due to upgraded traffic signal displays and state-of-the-art traffic signal control equipment and improve pedestrian safety with improved crosswalks, pedestrian signals and sidewalk ramps where appropriate at the following intersections: Intersection No. 1: SR 3 (US 19) @ SR 27 (US 280) (north junction) Intersection No. 2: SR 3 (US 19) @ SR 30 / West Patterson Street. Addendum: 646.94 square feet (0.0149 acre) of ROW is now required in the NE quadrant of Intersection 2 in order to accommodate the new controller, signal pole, and pull boxes in that quad plus an additional four foot Area of Potential Effect: strip north to the next property to accommodate a new pedestrian signal and underground conduit. The APE for the project includes everything within the proposed construction project length and within the maximum extent of the existing and required right-of-way as described above.
