Abstract

In June 2000, R. S. Webb & Associates conducted a Phase-I cultural resources survey of the proposed Arbor Station Sewer Line Corridor along a 3.05-kilometer (1.89 mile) section of Anneewakee Creek in Douglas County, Georgia. The survey was conducted under contract with Qore Property Sciences, Inc. on behalf of the Douglas County Water and Sewerage Authority. The purpose of the study was to locate and identify cultural resources within the proposed sewer line corridor and assess cultural resource significance based on National Register of Historic Places criteria (36 CFR Part 60.4). The survey included a literature/records search and an intensive field survey of the project area. The corridor is located about 4.5 kilometers south of Douglasville, in Douglas County. The project corridor extends 3.05 km along Anneewakee Creek, from Stewart Mill Road to the Southside Sewage Treatment Plant east of Chapel Hill Road. The west third of the corridor parallels an existing sewer line, the middle section is primarily within the Chapel Hill Golf Course, the east section crosses a soccer field then follows a golf course fairway.
