Abstract

New South Associates conducted a cultural resources survey of 190 acres in southwest Talbot County along its border with Harris and Muscogee Counties from August 7th to August 16, 2000. This tract of land is owned by Mead Paper Company and is part of a large commercial pine plantation. The survey identified two sites and one isolated find within the project area. The two sites appear to be Late Archaic and Early Woodland lithic scatters. Neither they nor the isolated find appears eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places, and no further work on any of the sites is recommended.
