Abstract

R.S. Webb & Associates conducted a Phase I cultural resources survey on May 1 and 2, 2000, of the proposed Talbotton Mining Site in Talbot County, Georgia. A literature review of the proposed mining site was conducted on October 19 and 20, 1998 and updated in April 2000. The project area consists of a 58-hectare tract located 3.7 kilometers (km) southeast of the city of Talbotton. Areas were intensively surveyed throughout the proposed mining tract. A review of the state site files, historic structures files and the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) files revealed that no historic structures or cultural resource sites have been previously recorded within the current project area.
