Abstract

On October 9' of 2006 New South Associates (NSA) conducted a Phase I Archaeological Survey of an approximately five-acre tract in Cobb and Douglas Counties, Georgia. The goal of the survey was to determine whether the property contained evidence of past human occupation. The investigation began with preliminary background research and was followed with a pedestrian survey of the project area with shovel testing and surface inspection of exposed soils. No previously recorded archaeological sites were found within the project area. During surface inspection, two abandoned 1954-1968 conversion tractors were found within 10 meters of one another, and will be considered as an isolated find (IF 1)-no other materials were found surrounding the tractors. Based on the results of the Phase I archaeological survey no further archaeological study is recommended for this project area.
