Abstract

Five tracts ranging between two and five acres are to be the proposed sites for drop shafts associated with a sewer conveyance tunnel system terminating at the Chattahoochee River. The construction sites are located within Cobb County. Three of the sites lie on the western border with Douglas County. One site is located adjacent to Interstate 20. The remaining site is located on the western bank of the Chattahoochee River. Nickajack Drop Shaft Construction Site: The APE consisted of a short, 50-foot access corridor located approximately 50 feet north of the existing pump station and an approximately 0.46 acre plot northeast of the existing pump station. The project area was bounded by the loading area of 6925 Discovery Boulevard on the north, a dirt road on the south, and a drainage culvert adjacent to the pump station on the west. 1-20 Drop Shaft Construction Site: The APE consisted of a 40-foot wide access corridor extending east from the Wal-Mart loading area. The corridor continued east for approximately 500 feet. The access corridor terminated at the construction site that was approximately 0.87 acre in area and square in plan. Carroll Creek Drop Shaft Construction Site: The APE consisted of a 30-foot wide access corridor approximately 235 feet in length and a rectangular tract, approximately 1.2 acres in area. Silver Creek Drop Shaft Construction Site: The APE consisted of a 20-foot wide access corridor that was 100 feet in length and a rectangular construction tract approximately 1.3 acre in area. Sweetwater Shaft Construction Site: The APE consisted of two irregularly shaped tracts. The eastern tract was approximately 2.65 acres in area, and the western tract was approximately 1.32 acres in area.
