The proposed project consists of traffic signal upgrades at nine intersections along SR 1 and SR 193 in Walker County. The project would improve the overall efficiency and safety of traffic flow due to upgraded traffic signal displays and state-of-the-art traffic signal control equipment and provide better signal coordination through new signal interconnection cable. It would also improve pedestrian safety with improved crosswalk, pedestrian signals, and sidewalk ramps where appropriate. The intersections include: 1) SR I @ SR 1 Business (north of Lafayette); 2) SR 1 Business @ Roadrunner Boulevard; 3) SR 1 Business @ Hendrix Street; 4) SR 1 Business @ Culberson Avenue; 5) SR 1 Business @ Villanow Street; 6) SR 1 Business @ Patten Street; 7) SR 1 Business @ SR 193; 8) SR 193 @ Chattanooga Street; 9) SR 1 @ SR 136 East.
