Abstract

The proposed Linecrest Road project is located in DeKalb County, southeast of the City of Atlanta, Georgia, near the DeKalb, Henry, and Clayton county lines. The proposed project would construct an extension of Linecrest Road from a new T-intersection at Bouldercrest Road eastward to the existing section of Linecrest Road at the Ward Lake Road/Fairview Road intersection for approximately 1.08 miles. The proposed roadway would be on new location and consist of two 12-foot-wide travel lanes (one in each direction) with a 2.5-foot curb and gutter on both sides of the roadway. The north side of the roadway would have a 16-foot-wide shoulder consisting of a 12-foot-wide sidewalk. The south side of the roadway would have a 9.5-foot-wide shoulder with no sidewalk. As part of this project, the existing Ward Lake Road/Fairview Road/Linecrest Road intersection would be realigned to best line up the intersection with the proposed extension of Linecrest Road (reduce the skew of the intersection). New traffic signals are proposed at the intersections of the proposed Linecrest Road extension/Bouldercrest Road and Linecrest Road/Fairview Road/Ward Lake Road. In addition, a driveway opening would be constructed along the proposed Linecrest Road extension to provide access t potential future developments to the south of the road, which may include a parking area for a proposed trail and the development of a new Henry County park. A new bridge would also be constructed over an unnamed tributary to Conley Creek. The proposed 250-foot bridge will be 49 feet wide, including two 12-foot lanes, two 2-foot shoulders, a 12.5-foot-wide sidewalk and parapet on the north side, and a 6-foot-wide sidewalk and par e on the south side. The required ROW along the proposed Linecrest Road extension would be designated at approximately 100 feet. The roadway design speed would be 45 mph.
