Archaeological survey was conducted at the Union Bethel AME Church Cemetery, in Clayton County, Georgia, during April, 1993. Archaeological investigations consisted of locating and mapping all graves and associated cemetery features, and defining overall cemetery boundaries. These investigations were conducted in advance of proposed development of the surrounding property by Blue Circle Aggregates, Inc., and in compliance with Section 3.6-72-5 of Georgia's Cemetery Relocation Bill (Official Code of Georgia Annotated [OCGA] 1991, Chapter 72). Jeffrey W. Gardner of Brockington and Associates, Inc. (Atlanta, Georgia) directed the fieldwork. Mr. Gardner was assisted by Bill Jordan and Ginny Markham, also of Brockington and Associates.
