Abstract

Greenhouse Consultants Incorporated was retained by QORE Property Sciences to provide cultural resources survey and archaeological testing of the proposed Alexander Drive Improvements Project, Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia. Survey fieldwork was completed December 26, 2001, by Stephen A. Hammack, Senior Archaeologist, and Michael B. McDaniel, field technician. William I. Roberts W, Chief Archaeologist provided technical assistance, and John W. Matthews served as Principal Investigator. The purpose of this survey was to determine if the improvements to Alexander Drive would affect any prehistoric or historic cultural resources or historic structures. The investigation was completed to comply with state and federal (Section 106) regulations and guidelines. An archaeological reconnaissance survey of the project area was undertaken, as was a general surface search within the area of direct project impacts. The field crew took photographs of the project area, including any historic structures adjacent to the area could be affected by the proposed road improvement and extension.
