The project proposes to widen Covington Highway/US 278/SR 12 from a four-lane section to a five-lane section from DeKalb Medical Parkway to Cragstone Court. The roadway would receive two through lanes in each direction and a center bi-directional left turn lane. The shoulder along the south side of Covington Highway would be reconstructed as a 12-foot urban shoulder with curb and gutter, two-foot stamped concrete strip, and five-foot sidewalks. The proposed sidewalks would be constructed to provide an ADA accessible path along the south side of the roadway. All of the proposed widening is to be done on the south side of Covington Highway. The proposed right-of-way (ROW) for the project would be a minimum of 84 feet. The total length of the proposed project along Covington Highway/US 278/SR 12 is approximately 0.71 mile.
