Abstract

Along State Route (SR) 20 (Loganville Highway), from approximately 725 feet south of West Hightower Trail to approximately 700 feet north of West Hightower Trail, for a total distance of approximately 0.27 miles, and along West Hightower Trail from approximately 735 feet west of SR 20 to approximately 685 east of SR 20, for a total distance of approximately 0.27 miles. The proposed project consists of intersection improvements at the five-legged intersection of SR 20/West Hightower Trail/Chandler Road in Conyers, Rockdale County, Georgia. The proposed project includes the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection, the construction of 250-foot left-turn lanes and variable-length right-turn lanes along SR 20/Loganville Highway and West Hightower Trail, and the construction of a cul-de-sac on Chandler Road approximately 200 feet northeast of the SR 20 (Loganville Highway)/West Hightower Trail intersection. The proposed typical section for SR 20/Loganville Highway is a rural section consisting of two 12-foot travel lanes (one in each direction), one 200-foot-long right-turn lane, one 250-foot-long left-turn lane, and 10-foot shoulders (2 feet paved, 8 feet grassed). The proposed typical section for West Hightower Trail is a rural section consisting of two 12foot travel lanes (one in each direction), a 250-foot-long left-turn lane, an approximately 308-foot-long right-turn lane in the eastbound direction, and an approximately 262-footlong right-turn lane in the westbound direction. The proposed typical section for West Hightower Trail includes 10-foot shoulders (2 feet paved, 8 feet grassed) on the north side, and a 12-foot urban shoulder, consisting of a 5-foot sidewalk, 2-foot grassed strip, and 30-inch curb and gutter, on the south side. The proposed ROW would be approximately 100 feet along SR 20/Loganville Highway and West Hightower Trail, and approximately 60 feet along Chandler Road within the project area.
