Abstract

The proposed project would widen and reconstruct US 341/SR 27 from the eastern city limits of Surrency to the western city limits of Odum in Appling and Wayne Counties. Existing right-of-way along US 341/SR 27 is approximately 100 feet. Additional required right-of-way would vary from 50 to 110 feet, for a total of approximately 210 feet. Proposed changes in the project now include the realignment of CR 77 on new location and revised right-of-way acquisition at the Appling/Wayne County line. Approximately 25 feet of additional right-of-way is now required on the north side of US 341/SR 27 in the vicinity of the Norfolk Southern Railway, and many areas that were previously cleared for acquisition have now been deleted. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed changes was conducted throughout the project corridor.
