Abstract

This is an addendum to archaeological survey reports (Goad 1975a, b) submitted to the Soil Conservation Service for proposed drainage projects in the Bishop Creek Watershed, Appling and Jeff Davis Counties, and the Ten Mile-Briar Creek Watershed, Bacon County, Georgia. The purpose of the addendum is to provide a reassessment of recommendations provided in the earlier reports. This re-evaluation is based on a field study conducted on May 12 and 13, 1976. The fieldwork required 28 man hours. An additional 16 man hours were spent in laboratory analysis and report writing. Each archaeological site identified during the previous studies was revisited. The surface of every site was carefully inspected for artifacts in order to augment earlier collections. Since almost all sites occur in currently planted fields, subsurface testing was not attempted. The present condition of each locality was subjectively assessed in terms of potential for future archaeological research. likewise, the relationship of sites to proposed drainages and possible impacts stemming from construction were reconsidered.
